Fitting and installation
Do you offer fitting and installation?
We don’t fit floors ourselves. Fitting is handled by independent installers who have worked with us for years; you pay them directly. On selected products we can offer free fitting or trade rates through that network, ask before you order. The product warranty is ours (covered by the manufacturer); the workmanship guarantee is the fitter’s.
Can I install new flooring over an existing floor?
Sometimes. If the existing floor is securely fixed, level and in good condition, it can usually be overlaid. If you’re not sure, send us a few photos and we’ll have a look. It’s faster than describing it.
Measuring and quantities
How do I measure a room for carpet or flooring?
Measure the longest length and the widest width of the room with a tape measure. Multiply them to get the area in square metres. For irregularly shaped rooms, divide the floor into smaller rectangles, measure each, and add them together. Add 10% to your total for cuts and trims. The flooring calculator on each product page rounds up to the next full pack or roll length.
How do I measure stairs for carpet?
Measure the depth of each step (the bit you walk on, called the tread) and its height (the riser). Add them together for the carpet length you need per step. Then measure the width. Multiply the per-step length by the number of steps and by the step width to get the total area.
For winder or curved stairs, measure each step separately at its widest and narrowest points and calculate each individually. Measure landings as a separate rectangle. Add 10% to the final total for cuts, fitting and pattern matching. Patterned carpet, add 15%.
Materials and terminology
What is LVT flooring made of?
LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) is built in layers: a vinyl core for strength, a printed design layer that mimics wood or stone, and a clear wear layer on top to protect against scratches and stains. Most LVT also has a backing layer for stability. Water-resistant, durable, easier to live with than solid wood. Suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and high-traffic rooms.
What’s the difference between LVT Dry Back and LVT Click?
Dry Back (glue-down) tiles are bonded to the subfloor with adhesive. Very stable, very long-lasting, but the subfloor needs to be flat, smooth and clean before fitting. Any bumps will telegraph through.
Click LVT uses an interlocking click-lock system. Planks float on top of the subfloor, no glue, which makes it quicker to fit and DIY-friendly. It can usually be laid over many existing floors.
Both are durable and water-resistant. Dry Back tends to suit commercial settings; Click suits homes and rooms where you want a faster, less disruptive fit.
What is SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) flooring?
SPC is a rigid-core type of LVT. The core is made from a blend of limestone powder, PVC and stabilisers, which makes it more dimensionally stable than standard LVT. It doesn’t expand and contract the way other vinyls can. That makes it a strong choice for kitchens, bathrooms, conservatories or any room with moisture or temperature swings. Waterproof, scratch-resistant, click-lock.
What is laminate flooring?
Laminate is a multi-layer synthetic flooring that mimics wood or stone. Four layers: a clear wear layer on top, a printed photographic layer (this is what gives it the look), a dense core for strength, and a backing layer for stability. Most laminates use a click-lock system. More affordable than solid or engineered wood, low-maintenance, resistant to scratches, dents and fading. Good for high-traffic areas and busy households.
What is engineered wood?
Engineered wood looks and feels like solid hardwood but is built in layers. The visible top is real hardwood; underneath is a multi-layer plywood or fibreboard core that’s more stable and less moisture-sensitive than solid timber. It can go in places where solid hardwood can’t, including over underfloor heating and in basements. Typically more affordable than solid wood, with the natural look intact.
What’s the difference between herringbone and standard plank?
Herringbone is a fitting pattern, not a different material. The same plank is cut shorter and laid in a zig-zag rather than straight. It uses more material per square metre because of the cuts; pack sizes are smaller. Order an extra 15% for waste rather than the usual 10%. It’s a more visual finish and makes smaller rooms feel longer.
Delivery and your order
Do you deliver UK-wide?
UK Mainland only. Most items have a flat delivery charge calculated at checkout based on what’s in your basket; some carry a “Free delivery” badge. A few outer postcodes (PA, G, EH, KA, DG, FK, KY, PH, DD, AB, IV, KW, TR, GY, JE, SA, IM, ZE, HS, BT, Isle of Wight) carry an additional surcharge. We’ll quote you before processing the order. Full delivery policy.
What if my order is delayed or arrives damaged?
Made-to-order furniture and flooring shipped from a supplier typically takes 7 to 14 working days; busy periods can stretch this. We’ll email or call if anything is delayed. If anything arrives damaged, photograph the packaging and the item before unpacking further and email hello@aurino.co.uk within 48 hours so we can put it right.
How do returns work?
28 days from delivery on most items, in original condition with all packaging. Made-to-measure flooring cut to your specified length is non-returnable once cut, which is standard for the category. Email us first so we can arrange collection and refund the correct way. Full details on the returns policy page.
Finance and payment
Is your finance regulated? What does 0% APR really mean?
Finance is provided by Pay It Monthly. Application is a soft credit check that doesn’t affect your credit score. 0% APR means you pay back exactly what you borrow. No interest, no fees, no promotional period that quietly ends. That’s our lifetime policy. See the finance page for eligibility and worked examples.
Do you offer trade pricing?
Yes, on selected lines and for ongoing trade accounts. The simplest route is to email us with the products you’re looking at and rough volume; we’ll come back with a trade quote and the fitter-network rate if it applies.
Showroom and seeing pieces in person
Can I visit a showroom?
We’re online only now. Closing the physical store lets us pass the saving on through better prices. If you’d like more detail on a specific piece before ordering, we can usually send extra photos or a short video the same day. Just ask.
