Is composite decking better than timber?

It costs more upfront and far less over its life. It does not rot, splinter, warp or need annual oiling, and it will not go green and slimy the way softwood does. Timber is cheaper on day one and looks lovely when new, but it is a yearly job to keep it that way. Our composite decking versus timber guide walks through the trade-off.

Does composite decking get hot or fade in the sun?

Darker boards run warmer underfoot on a hot day, as any dark surface does. On fading, a quality composite is UV-stabilised. It settles slightly in the first few months and then holds its colour, rather than greying out the way untreated timber does.

Is it slippery when it is wet?

Our boards have a grooved, textured surface that grips better than smooth wet timber, but no outdoor surface is completely non-slip in the rain. Lay the grooves running away from the house so water drains, and keep the boards clear of leaf mulch and algae.

How do I clean composite decking?

Warm soapy water and a soft brush handle most of it. If you use a pressure washer, keep it on a low setting and a sensible distance so you do not force water into the board surface. No oiling, sealing or staining is needed, which is rather the point of it.

Do you deliver for free?

Yes, to most of the UK mainland. A handful of remote postcodes carry a surcharge, and if yours is one of them we tell you before you pay, never after. We do not quietly fund free delivery with a higher price on everything else.

Can I spread the cost?

Yes, with genuinely interest-free finance on furniture. Pay it off over several months and you pay back exactly what the item cost, not a penny more. We never charge interest, full stop. You will see the finance option at checkout.
