Installation methods
Nail-down: secret-nail onto a timber subfloor — existing solid wood, plywood, OSB, particleboard, or a non-cushioned vinyl tile floor over wood.
Glue-down: bond directly onto concrete, ceramic tile, terrazzo, metal, slate, marble, OSB or plywood. The existing surface needs to be rough or porous; slick or sealed surfaces (gypsum and anhydrite screeds) need pre-sanding to remove the soft surface laitance.
Notes for concrete subfloors
Use a primer to ensure a strong bond between adhesive and subfloor.
Notes for gypsum or anhydrite screeds
Remove soft surface laitance, then prime and apply a levelling compound before installation.
